Anaheim,
CA April 24, 2007 MAXxess Systems Inc., a leader
in school safety and emergency management systems, today announced
that it has received a contract from the Orange County Department
of Education (OCDE) to install a system at several schools that
will augment the safety and security at each site by enhancing their
ability to respond to natural disasters, lockdowns, on-campus violence
and other unplanned events.
"The
rapid availability of information can provide critical support in
the presence of a disaster," said Kevin Daly, chief executive officer
of Maxxess Systems. "Our SEMS system was designed to address the
concern of disaster preparedness in schools and we look forward
to helping the OCDE in its overall planning process."
The
Safety and Emergency Management System (SEMS) is designed to provide
a framework for situational awareness, coordination and emergency
response among the sites in the deployment. SEMS is a software-based
solution that collects and manages event information from all school
sites and rapidly distributes guidance and management direction
back to each of the sites.
SEMS
consists of local software clients at each school site and a server,
database and virtualized information manager at a central location.
All of the elements that comprise the SEMS system will be tied together
using the existing network infrastructure of the OCDE. SEMS incorporates
a wide array of capabilities that MAXxess has developed for the
commercial electronic security industry; including video management,
event prioritization, remote notification and extensive reporting
capabilities.
The
integrated information from multiple school sites will be coordinated
by a master event management system at the OCDE facility. All of
the SEMS systems ordered by the OCDE will be deployed within the
next 90 days
