Irvine, CA,
February 9, 2006 Adding to its growing list of Technology
Alliance Partners (TAP), Toshiba Surveillance & IP Video Products
Group announced today a strategic partnership with MAXxess Systems,
Inc., a manufacturer of high-level electronic access control and
security systems providing solutions from two-door systems to large
campuses with multi-buildings and to multi-sites managing hundreds
of doors and thousands of badges, to collaborate on the development
of software that integrates Toshiba's digital video recording technologies
with MAXxess' security solutions.
"It is
the goal of Toshiba and MAXxess to offer to the marketplace consolidated
security systems built around robust software that allows for sharing
important information to maximize the value of our companies' hardware
components," said Sergio Collazo, National Sales & Marketing
Manager, Toshiba Surveillance & IP Video Products Group.
The first product
of this partnership is a new Application Programming Interface (API)
software module that adds powerful new verification and consolidated
management control for Toshiba's Surveillix digital video recorders
to MAXxess' solutions including AXxess 202, AXxess NS and EndPoint
management software.
Bringing
It Together
Access control and video surveillance are oftentimes treated
as unique and distinctive systems within a security program, leading
to a loss in overall effectiveness.
The new Application
Programming Interface (API) module developed by Toshiba and MAXxess
addresses customer demand to integrate these two security technologies
so that video viewing, recording, storage, search and playback become
a dynamic, integral component of access control operations. This
functionality not only enables the live viewing of video images,
but the storage of video data within the access control system that
can later be recalled, searched and displayed. Event-activated stored
video data, such as motion detection or contact closure, can also
be logged into the access control database.
"This brings
together video and access control two related but individually
different technologies into a more easy-to-use, management
effective, fully-integrated system with superior capabilities,"
says Toshiba's Collazo. "This is an important milestone for
MAXxess and Toshiba, our customers, and the distributors, integrators
and dealers who recommend our products."
"This partnership
is another example of how the security marketplace is moving towards
integrated solutions," said Wes Appleby, President and Chief
Operating Officer of MAXxess. "This cooperative development
will enhance the capabilities of both product lines offering our
customers more fully integrated systems."
Toshiba's Technology
Alliance Partners (TAP) Program is focused on developing strategic
relationships with security technology leaders to create software
interface modules to achieve the seamless integration of products
and systems.
